I was popping out to pick up bread and milk and something for dinner when I suddenly realised it was Friday and I needed to collect husband's prescription! I treated it like a collection of sidequests where you pick up two or three from people in the same town, go to different points on the map, then complete them all at the same time :D So, up the road to the local shop, up a bit further (passing through the beautiful garden in Falkner Square) to the pharmacy, then trying to find the most direct route to Greggs for sausage rolls, and finally swinging round into Hope Street to get home.

I played some more of Infamous: Second Son and I'm definitely getting to grips with it - but I can already feel myself thinking, 'Meh...' when I consider playing it. It just feels like there's a lot of 'rinse and repeat' about it. Which Ghost of Tsushima had towards the end when I was OP - but I'm anything BUT in ISS. Like GoT, there are lots of small things to do and it's easy to lose an extra 30-60 minutes doing 'one more thing' :D I think I'll stick with it, though. 'How Long to Beat' suggests 10.5 hours and I've already done 5 - so it's probably 15-20 for me, which isn't a lot of my life. And I do enjoy the spray painting.

Also did some washing and cleaned the kitchen, so that's something off my 'to do list' for tomorrow.

And we did another 100 songs off my 'liked songs' on Spotify. Honestly, there are some I don't recognise! I must have listened to an album, or had a recommendation off someone, and played a song once and thought, 'Not bad!' - and now it's on my list... There are also some that just have me scratching my head - '5, 6, 7, 8'...?...REALLY...?! I mean, I do quite like the chorus... Don't judge me!

Finished off with an episode of Umbrella Society and some YouTube randomness.

A good day.

I 'finished' Tunic - by which I mean I got a 'Game Over', which isn't the 'real' ending. There's an object I didn't find. I looked. I tried to work out what the clues were telling me, but I didn't make sense of it. I've found a 100% walkthrough guide so I can do a full replay, but I'm going to have another go with the missing item tomorrow.

I also finished series 3 of Psyche. A couple of hard-hitters at the end! 'Tuesday the 17th' in particular had me guessing ALL the way through. Well, not guessing - I don't try to work out whodunnit, but I quite often find I've seen the twist coming a ways off. And a nice touch with Ally Sheedy in 'An Evening with Mr Yang'.

The final series of The Umbrella Academy is coming on 8 August and I think I want to watch the previous episodes to get up to speed. Which may need me to put Psych on hold. On the other hand TUA won't be going anywhere for a while, I suppose. Oh, and I'm really looking forward to the second series of Wednesday.

I wanted to take husband out for a walk but my weather app said it was going to rain all day, so I went on my shopping trip alone at the end of the morning. And, of course, the sun came out in the early afternoon, so we could have gone together.

But I got my cleaning tasks all done by pacing myself throughout the day.

Next door to our right have absolutely NO concept of an appropriate time to do... whatever it is they're doing that's making a racket. At least next door to the left worked during the day! It might have started at 8am and gone on until 8pm, but it's now past 9.30pm and there's a load of clattering and thumping going on. Sounds like they're moving furniture around. But there's definitely been some stuff thrown out into the back garden - I'm making a guess at metal piping but really, could be anything. Now I'm thinking wooden planks...?

Today's Doctor Who was intriguing rather than interesting. It was the first half of a two-parter, but it feels a bit stretched. Whereas other stories have been squished to make them fit into one episode. The Doctor got all emotional AGAIN, although he didn't actually cry this time - but lots of other people did. And Who Culture are right - too many UNIT characters with not enough to do, other than justify a budget. But a GREAT job from the make-up department and the CGI peeps. I had to look Sutekh up, though - my Whovian knowledge is far from encyclopaedic! Which reminds me - I still have a LOT of old Who to watch...

Tomorrow, I'm talking mustard seeds at St M's, so I'm going to run through my notes once more before bed.

I wrote a Nano novel about an ice cream seller. Just sayin'...

I managed to get all the cleaning done over the course of the morning AND four loads of washing on the line. I'll make someone a wonderful wife, one day >D

After dinner, daughter and grandson #2 arrived. Now he's walking, we took him out into the garden. He was wearing sandals and I think the grass poked through and tickled his feet. But he toddled about on the path for a bit. Husband got an ice cream lolly ice from the freezer, which grandson wasn't too keen on at first, but once it had melted a bit he ate most of it. He's not a fan of cold things.

He comes to me for books and naming all the animal ornaments on the shelves, and to husband for food and treats. Our roles in his life are now fixed forever :D :D

I'm so looking forward to granddaughter's arrival, but I'm filled with terror at the idea of having to manage both of them out in public. Of course, I managed to NOT lose either of my kids but... I'm just not going to take them out on my own until granddaughter is at least 10!

I made some progress with Zau. First there was the maze that I noped out of last week because I was tired and it hurt my brain just thinking about doing it. Then there was a boss fight with enemies, platforming, AND hunt the next bit of the big bad to attack. Just those two things took an hour. I made progress with Act 3 after tea, though. I've played 11 hours and am 50% through the main game. I'm sure the whole thing is supposed to take 8-10 hours :D I wish there were checkpoints in the mazes and boss fights. But it's a beautiful game and worth playing for the animation alone. I've just had a thought about what Act 4 might be...

This week's Doctor Who episode was much stronger - Steven Moffat on form. The futility of war and how AI could actually be used for good. Still not really a fan of how much The Doctor looks into the camera.

And I've sent out the latest bundle of my short stories. A mix of the whimsical and experiential :D

Why do holiday weeks go by so fast?!

I got another load of washing out on the line. I love drying stuff outdoors. So fast, so fresh, so convenient!

I also made progress with Zau. I think I've reached the final boss for Act Two, meaning I've completed this act in about half the time it took to get through Act One. I had to stop without beating the boss, though - tired brain was tired :(

And I watched four episodes of Psych. It's absolutely ludicrous and beyond far-fetched, but I'm hooked.

We had an absolutely gorgeous afternoon but husband had spent too long sitting out in the garden and was already hot and bothered before I suggested a walk, so we didn't get out. But sitting in the garden is still being outdoors! We really could do with a parasol, though...

I also made some more home-made fat balls for the birds. There's something very satisfying about squishing together lard and bird food.

Oh, I managed to hoover the whole house, too - so that's one less job for tomorrow.

And tomorrow is just a normal Saturday. Bath and cleaning, here I come!

I've been on leave this week and it's been really nice.

The husband and I have been for a walk most days, stopping off at the café in the Metropolitan (RC) Cathedral for coffee and food.  It's been good to just spend time together, chatting about stuff that isn't that important but some of it is.  We were talking about how we met, last night, and how different life would be if we hadn't turned that corner at the same time, or if we'd just kept walking and not spoken.  Or if we'd let our initial dislike of each other (yes, we were THOSE people!) continue.

I've also managed to find time for a cleaning job every day (yesterday was the windows - hate doing the windows).  Rosa is a domestic goddess.

And I've sunk a sizeable chunk of time (I think it's about 14 hours total) into Uncharted 4.  I'm mostly enjoying it - but more the story side than the gameplay.  But the learning curve hasn't been so great that I haven't motored through it, so there's that.  Oh, the stats page also informs me that I've spent over 2 hours standing still :D

AND I've also been battling with Lulu.com's self-publishing wizard.  Finally got the text file to behave, and ran into difficulties with the cover art.  I will have a final go, tomorrow.

Now, I have the weekend to finish U4, a meeting on Monday and then I will give myself over to the wonder and delight of FF8R on Tuesday.  So, excited!!!

So, yesterday the daughter and I took the grandson shoe-shopping for school shoes.  Town was heaving (of course) but the shoe shops were all pretty quiet.  We had a list of criteria, some from the school, some from us.  The shoes couldn't be 'trainer type' (which crosses off at least 50% of those available - and ALL the ones he liked), or have coloured labels (goodbye Kickers), I don't like kids in slip ons (cross off about 10% of what's left), or anything too 'posh' (he's going to school not a wedding - lose at least another 20%) and I thought he should wear lace-ups rather than velcros (lose about 30%).  So, yeah, not much left.  Added to which, his trainers are a size 3 but all the size 3 school shoes fell off him - he has his mother's narrow feet.  Shoes below a size 3 tend to be velcros because they're for younger children.  Cue much wailing and gnashing of teeth from all three of us!

But we did manage to find a pair that met the criteria, that fitted and, most importantly, that he liked.  And they were a lot cheaper than I was expecting.  The daughter thought they wouldn't last long but I think there's a good chance his feet will grow soon anyway, so I'm happy to get another pair in the New Year.

I invested in some toothy tabs from Lush as an alternative to toothpaste in a plastic tube.  They seem OK, so far.  If they work out, I'm also going to get the mouthwash.

Today, I plan to hoover the upstairs and clean the bathroom and toilet.  And wash my clothes.  The grass is also getting VERY long - tomorrow's job, I think, if it stays dry.

Every time I sing 'Ordinary World' I get an urge to write a song fic.  I suppose I haven't said I'll NEVER write another but I am trying to focus on original stuff.  But the line 'what would you wish if you saw a shooting star' is just MADE for Rinoa...

And I am about to head into the final battle of FFXII:ZA.
