Two steps forward...
May. 9th, 2025 10:32 pmThis time last year, I was enjoying an unexpected day at home and making progress with Zau.
Yesterday, husband agreed that it really was time to speak to the GP about his nose bleeds, which is a victory in itself. So, on the dot of 08:00, I rang the surgery and was told I was #11 in the queue. There's quite a jaunty tune that plays when you're in the queue. Eventually I got to the front and managed to get the last appointment! Tough luck for #12... The GP rang about 09:15 and asked husband to come in to the surgery at 12:15, which we did.
I really like this particular GP. They're very calm, pay attention to what's said, and are clear about what's happening. They prescribed some cream and gave us a blood form, which includes the rheumatology tests, annual diabetic screening, and one for anaemia. They also mentioned the aspirin, which husband takes for his heart and which I was concerned about - he has to keep taking it, although the doctor acknowledged it's not helping the nose bleeds.
About 18 months ago, one of the other GPs said they were worried about his kidneys as husband was dehydrated. Now, I'm a HUGE advocate for drinking more water, but I did ask whether it would help if husband reduced his water tablet dosage. 'Oh, yeah, we could try that...'. Yeah... So, today's GP got a lot of kudos from me because I didn't have to point out the aspirin.
Anyway, we have the cream. Let's hope it does the trick.
When I cancelled Tuesday's appointment at Broadgreen, I asked the secretary if the consultant could renew husband's prescription for his rheumatology meds, who said they'd pass the message on. Turns out only the nurses can do that and asking them to do it today was too late. I only found this out after I'd gone all the way up to Broadgreen to pick them up because they can't be sent to the Royal. <_< So, that's a phone call on Monday.
I also ran into a nasty boss in COE33. Whilst I did make more progress on the third try, I still died and decided some grinding was in order. Even on Story mode. I am so NOT used to grinding in games these days... Anyway, with everyone at L10, I did get further in the fight, but the jump attacks were still wiping me out. In the interests of making sure I wasn't missing something obvious, I've just looked it up - and, yeah, I was... sort of. So, we'll try the suggested strategy tomorrow.
I've also watched a couple more episodes of The Sinner - I am intrigued to find out what's going on, I just hope it's worth finding out.
Yesterday, I clicked on 'Missing You', then realised it's a Harlen Coben thing and stopped it before it started. I've watched 'The Stranger' and 'Safe' and the endings for both really annoyed me, so I swore to never watch another. I really don't understand the fuss - apparently there are 9 adaptations on Netflix, now O_o
