Always a difficult day...
Apr. 15th, 2025 09:09 pmThis time last year I was waxing lyrical about the strangeness of human biology, and reflecting that 35 years isn't long enough for the pain to go away.
And now it's 36 years and, yes, the pain is still with us. This isn't helped by another Labour government breaking ANOTHER promise.
My stepfather's operation appears to have gone well. He went into surgery about 2pm and my mother was told it would take 3-4 hours. When she hadn't heard anything by 6pm she rang the hospital but he was still in theatre. We rang her about 8pm but she hadn't heard back and was just about to ring the hospital again. When she rang us back a few minutes later, she said he'd been out of theatre about 20 minutes, was stable, but not conscious. I'll call again tomorrow.
She also started to talk about 4 May but I'm really not sure going out for a meal is a good idea, so close to major surgery. And they're supposed to be going to Lincoln the next day... Stepfather's cousin is visiting from Canada, so they'll probably feel they're letting her down if they don't go, but I'm sure she'd rather her cousin was well! Anyway, I said I thought we should wait to see how he gets on before we get any further with planning anything and mother agreed. I don't think they really grasp how serious this is. My boss, who is 20 years younger and VERY fit, took more than 5 months to recover from heart surgery.
I got the second side of the case for my miniature tea shop stuck down, but no gaming. I feel like I'm not going to have enough time for Veilguard, although I have two bank holidays either side of this weekend, two days' leave the week after, and most of the following week before my birthday hits. If I play my female cad, I could leave all the companion stuff to the end, other than doing all the flirting because cad, focus on the story and only do side stuff if I have time for it. Then my male elf mage who hero worships Solas can wait for a future playthrough, and do All The Things because he'd want to do that. If I can get Forspoken to the point of being done-done tomorrow, I'll fire up Veilguard on Thursday.
And I wish we had someone like AOC in Parliament <3
