A year ago it was Mother's Day! And I was reflecting on my experience of mothers, being mothered and mothering. And my attempts to support someone that I feel I let down again. Not just me but I think I could have done more.

Yesterday, it was announced that one of the younger members of our congregation is going to work as a medical first responder in Ukraine. I am left speechless in the face of such courage. When I expressed that, someone pointed out that I'm 'on the front line' of my family. Rather like the conversation I had last week about pregnancy and the potential complications versus having children very young - we're all in the situation we're in and we navigate it as best we can.

So, with the person I let down, I have my own shit going on - I can't be carrying everyone else's. But also, making sure husband gets his medication, or attends appointments is not putting my life literally on the line. And checking things are done Right is not beyond my capability. It also isn't just my job, and the other people also didn't do what they needed to do - and one person was being expected to do far more than they should have been.

I repeat, we need to be better.

Today, I bumped into my gamer colleague, who has downloaded DAV while it's on PS+. Last time we had a catch up they told me I'd love Ragnarok and they were so right.

Work was slow but I did update the webpages and sort some files out - and took a look over the next couple of weeks so I can get ahead of the prep needed for all the meetings coming up.

Tonight I opted for the small cupboard with the glasses in rather than the big one with all the cups - but I think some of the glasses should probably be in the big cupboard and some of the cups should be in the little one. Something to ponder.

And now, an early night!
