A colleague has tested positive, so the office was closed yesterday afternoon and will be on Monday to allow Estates to do a deep clean.  At the same time, we're still getting the 'everybody back!' messages from senior management.  I am not happy.

I'm not worried about getting sick as such, although obviously I don't WANT to, I'm worried about being another case and, therefore, another reason why this isn't over, yet.  I don't know if there's a way of conveying that to management that doesn't come across as whiney and/or irrational.

To be fair, I don't know that anyone has picked it up at work - just that people at work have got it.  And going into the office once a week will mean I can do my bits of shopping on the way home and can stay indoors on Saturdays.  Although early Saturday morning is likely to be quieter than late Tuesday afternoon...

Anyway, further information is promised on Monday.

There's a big black and white cat that likes to sun itself in our garden.  Given that we're now encouraging birds into the garden, we always chase it off.  It goes, but as slowly and sulkily as it can.  Yesterday, it even hissed at me.  I've decided to call it 'Kevin' after Harry Enfield's sulky teenager - if you don't know Kevin, look him up on YouTube :D

The birds are the main reason we're not getting a new cat of our own.  I do miss having a furry friend but there are lots of cat videos to take the edge off.

No need to go out over the weekend, unless we decide on a walk, but there's still cleaning!  Oh, yay...

Seriously - it's been 7 days?!

I finished watching The Stranger by Harlan Coben, who also wrote Safe.  In both cases, I was absolutely gripped until the ending, which I found disappointing in both cases.  With Safe, at least it made sense in the context of the rest of the story.  I disliked it on an emotional level; but I understood it.  With The Stranger...  They spent 7.5 episodes building up this intricate web of relationships and interconnections between the characters.  There were twists and turns, but they all added to an enjoyable experience.  But the ending...  So many holes in it...  Although, ironically, I liked this one at the emotional level!  Anyway, I won't be reading his books or watching any more dramatisations of them.

I decided I really didn't need any more Netflix series as my Tivo box has a LOT of stuff on it.  I am also watching (and loving!) Batwoman, and a third series of A House Through Time is starting on Tuesday (in Bristol, this time).  So, no more Netflix!  Then I read a recommendation for The Last Kingdom (in the Financial Times, of all places) and yes, watched an episode...  And yes, I'm hooked...  But I am only going to watch another episode when I've watched something off the Tivo!  Goals are important...

I got a new story up on 70x700, which brings the total up to 8 for this year (I think).  Given that it took 4 years to reach 35, I think that's pretty good going!  I'm not going to get to 70 in this calendar year (it's back to job applications next week), but by the end of 2021 I may well be in a position to self-publish my collection of 'Flash fiction on a grand-ish scale'.

I did some poking around with MSPlanner this week and have a different presentation of the Portfolio that is a) easier to digest than the previous SharePoint version and b) easier to keep track of than the Excel version.  At least, I think so.  Hopefully my colleagues will agree!

I was going to have a rant about Captain Tom (sorry, SIR Captain Tom... or should that be Captain Sir Tom...?) but I don't have the enthusiasm for it.  Suffice to say, why do we need a man who is over 100 to raise money for the fucking NHS?!

Today is the usual round of shopping, washing and cleaning.  And the sun is shining.

Life is good <3

The grandson came down on the bus on his own for the first time yesterday, because the daughter wasn't feeling well and needed to get to work.  He arrived safely at the bus stop where I met him and we walked home together.  The daughter rang when he got on the bus saying he'd be about another 30 minutes but he would text me when he got to Prince's Park (about 5 minutes from us).  I had just settled down with a cuppa courtesy of the husband thinking I had time to drink it, get my jeans on, go to the shop and meet him, when he texted!  Mad panic while I got dressed and almost ran to the bus stop - and saw the bus still in the distance.  I think he might have texted before the bus reached the gates rather than at the gates as I expected, AND it clearly doesn't take as long to throw on some jeans and walk to the bus stop as I expected.  We then went to the shop where we met my mother and step father who were delivering the son's birthday present, so we all walked back together.

The husband cleaned the living room (which was on my to do list), so I got the bathroom out of the way yesterday rather than leave it to today.  The hall, stairs, landing and upstairs rooms need some attention today.

Thanks to the wonders of modern technology, I was able to get my GameFAQs walkthrough for Primal on my 'phone, so got a bit more of that done.  We are coming to the end, which is a bit sad.  Still, there's Pixie Poison's Let's Play to watch!  The race in the final realm are quite bird-like in appearance (they remind me of the drawings of Tash from The Last Battle).  The head movements of the queen are spot on for a bird - quick and jerky.  Just another nice little touch.  I find the battles frustrating.  Sometimes, I can fight an enemy and come away with barely a scratch; other times, the same type of enemy can almost drain my health bar.  I THINK I'm doing the same things each time (although more than one or two at a time is bound to be more difficult)...  I never use the block button, which is silly of me but I always mis-time those things.

I'm at St M's to lead this morning, which gives me a slightly slower start to the day.  Bye for now, DW.
