A quieter week, workwise, but I did put a lot of energy into redrafting - and first drafting - the service definitions for the team.  They are now with various people for review.  And I also drafted the Big Report for Academic Board, which will need some tweaking next for the other Big Committee.

I also chatted to my former colleague who went to Glasgow.  Amazing how quickly 5 years has gone by - and how much of each other's lives we've missed, even with both of us on facebook!  Although, to be fair, neither of us posts THAT much.  Anyway, after some ups and downs, it seems like the pandemic is doing them a good turn.

I found out another colleague is leaving - not someone I work closely with but someone who will leave a big hole and who would have been involved in a big project that's about to start.  So, some headaches for the managers to decide how that might work.  I suggested, off the top of my head, a secondment for someone on the functional side - which apparently our boss had also mooted.  So, great minds thinking alike there, I think!

I managed to scramble story 57/70, although when it comes to editing time it's going to need a lot of work.  Not the story itself, but the pacing.

Oh, and the object for last Sunday was a balloon, to remind us to make space for prayer.  I actually pray a lot - the family would probably think I need to remember to make more space for them!  But when I dug out my engagement ring I found an old pin of a dove, representing the Holy Spirit of course, which I THINK I bought at the Christian book shop and cafe I had a Saturday job at when I was 14 - 16.  They sacked me for being pregnant but, you know, it was good times while it lasted.  Anyway, prayer-time and Holy Spirit - they go together :D

And our home shop is about to arrive, so I'm going to head off.  Catch you next week, DW!

So, the daffodils in the back garden have buds, which means there will be flowers!  Just, not yet...

The grey wagtail is now a regular visitor - I've seen it twice this week, which means it must come by a lot.  We also have a pair of great tits and at least one blue tit, in addition to the robin and sparrows.  The squirrel seems to be finding enough to eat elsewhere, though, because there's been a pile of nuts out there for a couple of weeks that have gone untouched.

Now, I just need frogs in my pond (#itsapondnotapuddle), and my wildlife world will be complete.

I miss having a real pet but wild creatures are a lot easier!

Sunday's Lent thing was to find an object that represented an important choice.  I dug out my engagement ring - which snapped 20+ years ago so I don't wear it but have never got round to spending a tenner to get it repaired.  It represents one of my most important life choices - my commitment to my husband and our daughter, without which all the other choices wouldn't have happened.

And I was also pleasantly surprised by St Paul's even-handedness with married people - wives' bodies belong to their husbands (which I expected) but husbands' bodies also belong to their wives (which earned Paul a thumbs up from me).  It seems I've seriously misjudged the old chap all these years!

Had some really productive meetings at work.  Tackled the 'on hold' list of projects, which was growing ridiculously long - like longer than the 'delivery' list! - with the platform leads.  One got rejected, one is actually in delivery but nobody saw fit to tell me <_<, and most of the rest got shuffled off into a 'roadmap' list.  We now also have a longer 'roadmap' of things we hope to do within the next 5 years, which means some of them may never get done at all!  But they don't need to clutter up the portfolio.  As the ones on the portfolio/roadmap list move through the process, we'll only add new stuff when there's actual space.  I've also reorganised how I move the data out of the SharePoint list and onto my spreadsheet (who knew that ordering by ID rather than alphabetically would make life sooo much easier? sometimes, I'm a complete idiot...) AND what gets displayed (really don't need to show ALL the stuff that's closed!).

Continuing to enjoy Marvel's Runaways.  Just who is the 'baddy' here?  Is anyone?!  And the interplay of the relationships - with all the attendant tensions, loves and jealousies - is really well done.

And the new series of Unforgotten is as gripping as the previous ones, but harder to watch because I'm having to wait a week between episodes!

Oh, and half-way through Lorna Doone things are finally happening.  This is NOT a book I expect to re-read.

The oven is now a LOT cleaner and there's a cleared patch in the garden awaiting some of the plants that are currently in pots.  I really want to plant some snowdrops, but I think I've missed the window this year.  I'll be more organised next year.  But the daffodils are coming along - every time I look at them they've grown a bit.  And the grey wagtail has appeared again - I am ridiculously happy about seeing her.

I've also posted story #55 for 70x700.  I might even have an edit done of the whole thing by the end of the year!  And I don't think it will need much in the way of editing, bth.

Our Lent services are - fun?  Is 'fun' a good word for Lent?  We're doing a sort of Lent Wreath idea, so we have six little envelopes with 'something' inside.  Last week, it was a piece of purple ribbon to represent 'journey', then we were asked to find something personal that represented our Christian journey.  I found I still had the acorns the previous Rector gave out at his final service 5 years ago.  He was telling a story about a man who'd planted trees in a barren valley and brought it back to life, but acorns are also a symbol of St Bride.  So the acorns represent my church, my call, growth, beginnings, my love for the previous Rector, and the transition to the current Rector.

Really looking forward to seeing what's in tomorrow's envelope!

We also have a morning prayer liturgy with daily readings from 1 Corinthians.  The most recent passage included a reference to 'immorality' and 'homosexuals' but I'm putting that down to the translation I'm using.  My understanding is that NT references to 'homosexuality' refer to power relationships and male prostitution.  And maybe St Paul did mean anyone who comes under the LGBTQIA+ banner - but he was a flawed human like the rest of us.  Whatever, in 2021, I don't believe God cares WHO we love - God cares about HOW we love.

I am (quite slowly) reading 'Lorna Doone' for the first time.  Geez, I wish it would GET somewhere...

And continuing to watch 'Marvel's Runaways', which has lots of interesting relationships and intertwinings.  Alex recently referred to himself as the NPC in everyone else's MMORPG :D

AND - tomorrow is my daughter's 33rd birthday.  I shall send her a picture of the little green spikes that WILL BE her tulips. <3

Right, time to get moving.  Bye for now, DW!
