Lost track...
Jun. 22nd, 2018 06:43 amSo, I lost track of the fact that yesterday was Thursday. Weird...
I've finished the latest edit of the novel and I'm hoovering up Write Practice writing tips from my inbox. I'm making a note of the ones that I think will Be Useful for the next edit.
My Beta reader pointed out lots of loose ends in the final chapter but, to be fair, some of them got lost much earlier. Fletcher, in particular, needs a better role than 'kind of distracting love interest when I remember to bring him in'. And I think the ending needs a complete rewrite. Some real action rather than a confession in a hospital bed. I also think my MC should pursue one of the other suspects a bit more diligently, really get herself stuck in the wrong rabbit hole.
Overall, I'm very pleased with how it's gone. The plot works and so do the side plots, although some work better than others. But there is still a LOT of work to do.
When I've finished collecting writing tips, I think I'll write some short stories - haven't done that in SO long. And maybe read some on-line fiction - fanfiction.net and Shotgun Honey spring to mind. I've spent six months focussed on DOAIS - I need to pop my head up for air!
