Friday already?
Feb. 16th, 2024 09:58 pmGot a load of adminy stuff done, today. Two new sets of minutes drafted from the meeting(s) this morning, then tidied up the RAPIDs. And discovered we'd completely missed two actions from the previous meeting. Why? Because people don't review the minutes in a timely manner, so then I have to chase and end up dealing with them in a rush! Plus the 'action log' is just a list in OneNote and it's clunky and I don't like it. I have some quiet time next week, so I'm going to go back to a SP list, I think. I know where I am, then.
I tried using Copilot. Whereas with ChatGPT, you have to draft a statement telling it what you want, Copilot gives you options like 'professional' or 'enthusiastic' for tone and 'summary' and 'report' for style. I started with 'professional' and 'report' and pasted in 2000 of the 8000 words in the transcript - and it said something weird like it couldn't produce a professional tone because it was inappropriate or something. Then I tried a different tone and 'summary' and it said there were too many grammatical errors in the text (it's a TRANSCRIPT - of course there are errors because that's how people speak!) and it couldn't be sure of giving an accurate summary. I gave up at that point and just wrote the minutes up from my own notes.
Then I tweaked the minutes I did yesterday based on boss' feedback and updated the action log for that one, and drafted the comms for the people who submitted project requests explaining why the committee were turning them down. All along the lines of - we already have a shitload of work to do, go away.
I also started going through the training materials for the APM project management qualification I'm doing in the summer. The training is held every Thursday and Friday, and I don't have a free Thursday until July! It's a recurring meeting that I could probably skip (I mean, when I have leave I don't give a fuck that I'm missing it...) but I like to go if I can.
I managed to get the mortgage switched over to the joint account, so that's one down! Honestly, I didn't realise just how many bills we're paying. The gas and electricity are on PAYG, so I just need to set up the new card on my app - but I'll probably have to ring someone to get son's name added to the account. For the Council Tax, I'm going to try the One Stop Shop in the library - literally across the road from our back door - and for O2/Virgin, I'll call in to the O2 shop in Liverpool 1 on my way to work one day next week. Which, I think, just leaves the water...? I'm probably forgetting something! Oh, yeah - the insurance :D
What's REALLY frustrating about all this, though, is how hard it is to get a bloody 'phone number out of these companies. I get that most things are done online these days, and I prefer to do that myself. But in this instance, I really need to speak to an actual person to explain what I want from them. A job for the weekend is to dig out ANY paperwork I have in hard copy for the account numbers.
I watched Rosie from Playstation Access play 30 or so minutes of each of the remastered Tomb Raider games. I will not be attempting them myself, but I enjoyed her enjoying them.
And I've just spent an hour or so myself playing 'Immortal Fenyx Rising', which is going OK. So far, at least! I was given a load of equipment and abilities in that first hour - now I just need to remember how to use it all when I play again. And the controls were really smooth, given that it's an Ubisoft game. I suppose POP:SAT was smooth - just judging where to jump could be a pain. But I still have nightmares about 'Evil Twin'!
And The Post had a story about my pension fund giving a loan to a local developer who seems to have connections to a person who has spent time in prison for violence. Which really topped my week off!
Looking forward to the weekend - just a quiet one.
