Sometimes, work hits like a truck

rosa_heartlilySo, after a week off I knew I was going to walk into a wall of work on Monday. My calendar was completely maxed out for both Monday and Tuesday, so I was prepared.
Oh, no, I wasn't! One of the projects I'm supporting has a seriously over-complicated governance structure for historical reasons that we will probably (hopefully!) revisit when Phase 2 kicks off. Plus, all the people we need for all the meetings are incredibly busy with diaries that very rarely line up with each other - and some of them are in Australia, so we have time zones to factor in, too! But what it means for now is that moving one meeting has a knock on effect for the whole structure - and both the Chair and Vice Chair had sent apologies for one of the meetings and... Well, it took my line manager and myself about 20 minutes to come up with a way forward, THEN two days to get an answer from the Chair's PA as to whether the new date would work. The upshot is that I have an 08:30 meeting coming up. Yay...
But once that was sorted, the rest of the week just sort of happened.
I had coffee with the Rector, who is going on a sabbatical next month, to talk about 'businessy' stuff (yes, churches have business stuff) and personal stuff. And coffee with a friend who used to come to our church but is now basing themselves nearer where they live - which makes a lot of sense - but we still get to have coffee now and then! I love that we have a coffee shop on the ground floor of our building, that it's a local company, AND that they serve really good coffee. You can buy their stuff on line, too! And the evenings were spent playing Horizon and reading 'The Thursday Murder Club', which I am quite enjoying after some initial resistance.
