Tentatively good news...

It seems that my potential promotion at work is definitely getting some traction. The Big Boss has drafted a job description that sounds perfectly doable, whilst stretching me in new ways. No mention of PM'ing - although setting up a PMO could be treated as a project... - but I do enjoy governance and documentation and control (damn the Doctor for turning me into a bureaucrat!), so I would definitely be getting my teeth into it.
The husband and I are supposed to be going out with my mother and step-father tonight, although I still think there's a chance it won't happen. Mother invited husband (it's a 'night with Liverpool Legends' thing) at Christmas, and he said, 'yes', so why is it all my fault?! To be fair, I could have put the brakes on because it's a work night but he sounded up for it and I didn't want to be the one stopping him from doing something he wanted to do. *Rosa's brain circles on an endless loop of 'but I thought...'*
So, the plan is to meet up with them in New Brighton, go for a meal, then go to the thing. We're going to have to be away by 10.30pm, though to get the train home because husband doesn't want to stay over. I think he'll enjoy it more than he's expecting to, because that's usually how these things turn out.
And I'm hurtling towards the end of Ch 10 (final chapter!) in my current edit. My Beta reader has come up with some great suggestions for the next go-through. The plan is to give myself the rest of June off and watch Netflix/play H:ZD, then tackle the next edit beginning in July. I think I'll try splicing in all the new stuff, then go back and smooth it all out. Then do the kind of edit I'm currently doing (catching typos, strengthening dialogue and description, etc) and send it back to my Beta reader chapter by chapter. Which could all take me up to the end of the year. I am taking quite a bit of leave in July and August, which I could make use of predominantly for editing (rather than cleaning and video games).
So, on balance life is going pretty well at the moment.
