I'm loving Jessica Jones on Netflix.  So many interesting characters, all with believable back stories.  Even the baddy has induced empathy.  The story feels like a spiral, winding inwards, getting tighter.  Impossible to say more without spoilers.

I also watched Annihilation.  Really don't know what to say about it.  The five female leads are very strong and all bring something to the story.  The place they are exploring (The Shimmer) is both weird and wonderful.  And can be terrifying.  The ending was ambiguous.  I haven't read the book it's based on but I suspect it hasn't translated as well as expected.  I'm disappointed that it went straight to the small screen - it's hardly a ringing endorsement of female-led films!  But it does mean that I've had the chance to see it now, rather than having to wait for it.  The Shimmer was clearly designed to be seen on the big screen and it would have been even more amazing.  In fact, perhaps part of the problem I had was watching it on a TV screen.  They should have been braver.

Gaming wise, I've finished Abzu - a total delight.  Play it.  Now I'm replaying the ABC Murders and making Poirot twirl his moustache in every mirror I can find for ego points.  Love it!  And NNK2 lands next Friday, which is currently planned to be as clear as possible!

Last Sunday was Mother's Day, here.  The daughter got me a plant in a plant holder that looks like my first cat, George.  Well, he was my mum and stepdad's cat, really, but he arrived when I was still living there.  The son, predictably, gave me money.  To be fair to him, the one year he did make an effort to buy me something he got me 'Lady Chatterley's Lover', which I had already read and didn't like - so I took it back to the shop and exchanged it for the DVD of Pride and Prejudice (the BBC 6-parter).  So, I can understand him thinking it's safer to give me money.  And I spent it on a new Tarot deck, which he wouldn't have thought of.

It's called the Triple Goddess Tarot, and I love it!  All of the images really speak to me.  I have two other decks at the moment - the Merlin Tarot and one inspired by the paintings of Hieronymus Bosch - which are both beautiful, but not in a way that makes me engage with them.  The new one is different.  I haven't used it for a reading, yet, but I am looking forward to doing that.

One of my jobs for next week is painting the kitchen but I ran into a snag last night when the paint we wanted wasn't in the shop.  We need to rethink colours...

Work has been more interesting this week and the editing continues.

And that's about all, for now.  Bye, DW!
