Third time lucky!

A year ago I was making progress with stuff at work, putting my foot in my mouth with a colleague, and watching Unforgotten.

Today I managed to make some notes about the flora and fauna of Nova's world but nothing more. I want to use the lamecs but I can still hear the comments of one of my Beta readers about them... "Just 'camel' spelled backwards!". Well, not quite... And anyway, what's wrong with that? If Terry Pratchett can call a place Llamedos, why can't I have general beasts of burden called lamecs?!

I did manage some work whilst rewatching Scoop - what a cast list! This morning, I saw Emily Maitlis doing an interview on LBC and reflecting that it was 6 years since she did the interview with the then Prince Andrew. I didn't watch it myself at the time because I had zero interest in him but the film is really good. Three women coming together to give him enough rope to hang himself.

This afternoon was another workshop for the AI Academy. They're good in that the content is delivered in bite-sized chunks, and we get to interact with other learners. And the instructor seemed a bit more prepared today. On Wednesday, they were a bit all over the place.

Then I popped out to a local café to finally meet up with my friend from church. They've found another church - but it's not us :( But they aren't in a place where they feel they can come back to us at the moment and I respect that. It was so good to catch up, though.

After tea, I came upstairs and solved the two puzzles that I thought I'd worked out in my head. I needed some adjustments but I got there. And then disaster struck the team! So we went back to New Jerusalem to regroup, and now it's back to the island where we have another new tool. There still isn't any sign of things that want to kill me, which I am VERY grateful for.

And now for bed.

My favourite is a hill that's called Hill Hill Hill, or something like that - but using different words for 'hill'. Like, a Roman asked a local what's that and pointed at the hill and they used the local word for 'hill' - but the Roman thought that was the name of the hill, so it became Hill Hill, then the process got repeated.

Hill is one of those words that looks less and less like a real word the more you write it...
