I rang my mother this afternoon to wish her happy birthday but she wasn't in. I meant to ring her later but didn't... :( I'll try tomorrow.
Hoping the garden people finish tidying up tomorrow... We agreed a job and a price - you've had your money, now finish the work. And don't tell me you're going to come at the weekend and then don't turn up without any explanation. Will not be recommending them - or, I'll at least warn people about their low levels of communication.
Today, I got the bathroom done and tried the 'door restorer' on the front door. It doesn't seem to have made much difference, and I suspect it's just too far gone. But I only used a little bit, so I'll add it to my monthly routines, I think.
I got Tonberry King and Bahamut - Mad Rush is the way to go! Decided against delving into the depths of the DSRF, though. And Jumbo Cactuar's 10,000 needles get through both invincibility and Mad Rush. I'm not going to worry about it, though. I find myself in a bit of a quandary about FFVIII. On the one hand, using invincibility does make battles pretty meh - but I'm not interested in dying over and over. Still, this playthrough has done the job I needed it to do - it's filled the time up to Christmas very nicely.
I watched another film off my Tivo - Free Guy. It asks the question, how much attention do you pay to NPCs? I very much enjoyed it. Made me think a bit more about all those people wandering around in the background of my games. Of course, VLDL's Epic NPC Man videos have helped there, too!
I've decided, if I want to record a film, I have to clear one off the Tivo. And I've set a record on RHPS. Dammit, Janet!
And I've watched 6/9 episodes of the final series of Mystery of Aaravos. WTF, Claudia? I've always understood her motivations, even if I've disagreed with her methods but now... She seems to have gone completely off piste. And poor little Ezram - such a heavy burden for one so young.
Tomorrow, I tackle the living room floor - and the porch and hall for that matter. Trusty steam mop for the win!
I'm really enjoying this readthrough of Emma. Everything is there, all the clues to what's really going on - but because the story is told from Emma's POV and she is completely oblivious to everything except her own 'cleverness', it's all hidden away from the reader, at least on the first reading. Usually, I let Emma carry me along with her fancies and don't join the dots, but this time I've been enjoying finding them. At some point during my break I'm going to rewatch the 2020 version with Anya Taylor-Joy on iPlayer. It's as damn near perfect as an adaptation gets.
And that was Day 2. Roll on #3
