Can't win 'em all
May. 11th, 2025 09:46 pmThis time last year I was happy to be avoiding doing stuff in church, making the most of the sunshine, not doing very well with my games, enjoying Psyche, and looking forward to seeing Younger Grandson toddling.
Today was our annual meeting at church. We incorporate it within the service, so there's no escape! *evil laugh* At the moment, we only have one Parish Warden who is only serving another year. An appeal was made for someone to step up but there were no takers. That's probably a good thing - the last time someone volunteering during a meeting they were really unsuitable. I suggested we start a formal recruitment campaign in January - explaining what the role is and involves, and doing the whole Safer Recruitment thing. Although if we go ahead with Fit For Mission, I'm not sure we'll have our 'own' Wardens any more?
One of the reports was from our Team Vicar and Curate who are both chaplains at my old school. I learned today that my old RE teacher, who later became Head Teacher at the school, passed away ;( I knew they'd been ill but didn't know they'd passed. They were such an influence - someone who genuinely celebrated their faith. I wish I'd had the chance to tell them.
The young person who went to Ukraine had to come home after contracting a chest infection. They're back at church but I haven't had a chance to speak to them - they were sitting alone with their eyes closed as I was leaving and I didn't want to disturb them.
I managed a good chunk of time with COE33. The dreams are equal parts weird and interesting. I'm enjoying speaking to everyone at camp. And I've worked out that the Pictos give stat boosts as well as teaching Lumina. lassarina mentions in her Liveblog. I'm not racing ahead (no repeat of Veilguard #2!) but I'm also wary of putting my party at too much risk. I can always come back when I'm OP!
And I discovered the young person who serves in our local shop is saving for a PS5 and likes story-based games! I could have stood there all day giving my recommendations :D
Liverpool could only draw with Arsenal, but we've won the league - that's the important thing :)
I've done some prep for tomorrow's meetings-to-plan-meetings, so I'm not scrabbling round in the morning. Back to work... yay...
