A year ago I was having a Wurzel Day, with project meetings and church meetings, people coming to fix the couch, and watching things connected to Rebirth.

This morning, I had a meeting scheduled for 9.30am that I expected to last all of 10 minutes max, but one of the other attendees had a hospital appointment and asked me to move it, which I did. I did a trawl through my emails and then went downstairs to attempt the Great Blood Letting Part II.

And husband was asleep. His sleep patterns are terrible, so he often has a nap when he can but I thought he'd have tried to stay awake. On the other hand, he'd probably have been grumpy, so I came back upstairs. I put some energy into my Portfolio x Strategy report. One of the Power BI devs had done some work on the Values page and I managed to replicate some of it on the Aims page, but I need their advice on a couple of things - how to insert an image and how to link up the drilldown. Hopefully, they'll be in the office tomorrow and I can pick their brains.

About 11am, I heard husband moving around so I made him a cuppa to let him come round a bit and then we set off. As we left the house he said, 'I don't want to sound patronising, but have you got the form?'. I was 100% certain I'd put it in the bag yesterday but I said it was a reasonable question and I wasn't at all offended. I then got it out of the bag to show him and put it right back. The upside of setting off a bit later was that the sun was higher, so we walked in sunshine for most of the way. We got a lift very easily and, again, there was no queue in the waiting area, so the person in charge just sent us round to the nurses. Two vials of blood were taken and we were free.

There was a stall selling jams, lemon curd, chutneys and piccalilli. I know husband likes that, so I went over to buy some - but they were sold out! There was someone else wanting it, too. The seller said they thought they had a box left in the car and went to get it. They said they'd doubled their stock and still sold out! Anyway, we got a jar and headed home. We did a bit of shopping on the way and had our dinner when we got in.

I had a couple of update meetings this afternoon but they got cancelled, so I spent the time reading some of the Impact Engine book and listening to a webinar by Laura Barnard.

My ultra-left fb friend really is losing the plot. First of all, they're praising Trump's handling of the tariffs thing, hailing it as the downfall of the globalised economy. They even seem to be overlooking the 54% tariffs on their beloved China! Now, I've also seen some wailing and gnashing of teeth from hedge fund managers and, to be honest, if this only resulted in them being less wealthy I wouldn't lose any sleep. But it's the attitude of the fbf that this is some brilliantly thought out strategy - when the formula has been widely ridiculed. And even if it was an actual plan, the aim would most definitely not be a general redistribution of wealth, which is surely what a lefty should be wanting?

And THEN they posted that the Left should be supporting Marine Le Pen... She's a criminal and a fascist. Are you sure you're an ultra-lefist? Because at this rate, I wouldn't be surprised to learn they'd joined Reform.

As I said, upending the globalised economy could turn out to be a good thing long-term. But there is sooo much wrong with this administration. The Attorney General allowing Mel Gibson to carry arms and refusing to investigate a Republican politician. The destruction of government departments. Allowing Musk free rein over government systems. The list goes on - but none of it is addressed by fbf. I have to say, they're also 'anti-woke' (in particular, anti-trans), so are probably cheering the destruction of DEI programmes. I keep them on my friend list because they challenge my thinking - I usually find myself maintaining my original conclusions but I am more secure about the 'why'.

No Forspoken tonight. Heading for an early night because I'm back in the office tomorrow.
