This time last year I was warding off a deposition at church, finishing FFXVI: Echoes of the Fallen, and watching Vanilla Sky.

Today, I asked husband if he was up for going for a blood test (I mean, we HAD to go, really, because he didn't come with me on Friday), and he agreed. So, right after breakfast we set off. I made sure I had my front door key (so many times I've nearly forgotten it because I'm used to the house having someone inside it while I'm out), my purse (just in case) and drinks and sunglasses for both of us. Yay! We have everything. It was a nice day in the sun but because it was still early there was a lot of shade. We got to the hospital and walked straight into an empty lift (that NEVER happens), and as I pressed the button I thought, 'This is all going too well...'. Talk about famous last words! As we walked towards the empty(!) waiting area, I saw someone one with a blood form.

'Shit! I've left the blood form at home...'

I asked the person who monitors the waiting area if it would be possible to print the form at the hospital but, of course, they had no idea and suggested asking the nurses. So, we went round to the nurses. They couldn't help (they just do what the form tells them, they don't print them) but suggested going back to the reception we'd just passed. There are a LOT of reception desks around the place and I was pretty sure the nearest one had nothing to do with rheumatology but they might point us in the right direction. I explained the situation and one of the receptionists rang Broadgreen to ask if they could possibly send the form through for the Royal to print. Nope. Apparently, that's impossible. If you need a form printing, it has to be Broadgreen because that's where the clinic is.

I mean, I get that you have to be careful, but this isn't a prescription for morphine, or giving a person chemo! It's a blood form for THEM to take the blood...

So, we turned round and came back home, stopping off at the pharmacy (to pick up last week's repeat script) and the GP surgery (to order this week's). I did suggest grabbing the form and going straight back but husband was more chilled than I'd realised, so we stayed put. I put the form in the bag so we can try again tomorrow. Whilst forgetting obvious stuff is something I'm known for, it's the first time I've forgotten the blood form - although it's been a close thing a couple of times! I just know tomorrow will be bad weather, queues for the lifts, and a wait in the reception area :D

I am mostly annoyed with myself but also slightly irked with the system that can't print a form. And grateful to husband for mentioning that it would all have been avoided if he'd come with me on Friday!

This afternoon, daughter brought younger grandson and granddaughter down. They are growing so fast! YG is getting chattier and clearer. He came up into my room and found a couple of chocolate coins that are husband's emergency ration in case of hypo. 'Two coins! [YG]'s coins! Shiny!' said YG, then put them on the bed. He looked at some other stuff and then spotted one of the coins. 'There's one; where's two?' he asked. He kept saying they were his but he left them in the room when we went back downstairs. I'm not sure he knew they were chocolate under the foil. He also piled up my books very neatly on the bed, then put them back on the bedside cabinet.

Granddaughter can't crawl but she can get about using a move that's somewhere between a commando crawl and the Worm. She was very smiley as always.

In between, I did manage a bit of work. I made fried rice for tea, and gave the seeds a good water this evening.

I've just reached the half-way point in Forspoken and have another raft of spells to get to grips with. The second Big Bad was more interesting than the first as a character but the battle was annoying. I have a ranged attack that's a fiery spear but it doesn't always work and switches to a fiery sword instead. The sword is great for land-bound enemies - not so much for one that's flying around! So, I switched to the first spell set and used the ranged attack in that. Oh, and Frey has learned some Big News, which is maybe kinda obvious but makes her more interesting to me. And reminds me again of Jen in Primal.

Now for bed and round two of The Journey to the Blood Test!
