Just a weekend between now and then
Aug. 30th, 2024 09:32 pmI'm expecting the weekend to be fairly standard. It's been a confusing week, like I said the other day. On the one hand, it feels like a lot more than 7 days since I was sitting in the office. On the other, I can't really tell you what I've done to fill the days - but I know I haven't been twiddling my thumbs!
I have made good progress with my Nano prep. I'm at the sticky end of the 'story from the pov of each character' section. This group are all intertwined and interconnected in ways I'm not really sure about, yet! I think I'm justified in actually taking the weekend off and tackling it fresh on Monday...
Sky: CotL is all kinds of delightful. You can interact with other players, either 'live' or by leaving/interacting with messages, memories and shared spaces. There's also an interesting skill tree, although I'm not entirely sure what to use the skills for... But it's nice to engage with a game where I'm not being shot at from 10 different directions OR fighting with the controls.
Watched a couple of episodes of Umbrella Academy. I thought Viktor was introduced a bit later. And I'd completely forgotten the dance off >D The whole cast enjoyed that waaay too much.
And I binged an entire Doctor Who story whilst sorting through my work emails - reading the non-work ones and shoving the work ones in my 'working' folder for Monday. One of the emails I read was from Nick Cave's Red Hand Files and featured Sometimes a Wild God - Tom Hirons - writer // mentor // guide. You can buy an illustrated copy of Hirons' poem, which would cost me £14. It feels like a lot to invest in someone I only learned about 90 minutes ago - but also feels like a good investment in an artist and an exceptional publisher. It may be my gift-to-self next pay day.
This week's Friday Feature is about hard trophies in easy games. And I watched Rex Sterling make excellent use of Mad Rush and defeat Ultima at the very first attempt. I am in awe.
I'm pondering a post about all the things I love in different FF games, just because. And also so I'm ready when SE ask my personal opinion on what they should include in FFXVII :D
