Christmas seems like a VERY long time ago. I am really tired tonight and I'm not sure why. I've been busy but not constantly so... I think I'm just ready for the weekend! I'm having a 'blue Friday' rather than 'blue Monday' :D

Met with my favourite colleague for coffee today, and had a really good chat about Doctor Who. They were on the interview panel for my first job at the university and we just clicked right away. Over the past 23 years we've had our ups and downs, collectively and with each other! But we've always found a way back to our deep and true friendship.

After being made redundant a few years ago, and holding a series of temporary posts around the university since, they finally have a permanent post, which is a Good Thing! And it's in quite an exciting new role that they seem to be relishing.

They hadn't enjoyed the Christmas special as much as me but we did agree there's been a definite line drawn under the time of the 13th Doctor and we're looking forward to seeing where RTD goes with the 15th. We also discussed how terrible the original series is! The trick is to forget you're a 50-something person in the 21st Century with umpteen options for entertainment, a large proportion of which involves some form of CGI. You have to imagine you're an 8yo from the mid 60s, agog with this new thing called television and amazed by the 'special' effects.

My colleague wondered how people could bear to watch it - but I said we have to remember there wasn't anything else to compare it to! And there are some good ideas tucked in amongst the bad acting and wobbly sets.

Tonight I didn't have the energy for Sea of Stars, so I'm watching that very series of Doctor Who! It's a story from the second series of the Hartnell era; I'm watching the episodes at the end of the story my colleague was about to start watching.

New telly is due in the morning - about the time I would normally have my bath! So I may switch things round a bit tomorrow. I do like my routines but they can also be reorganised as required.

My excitable puppy colleague (from now on known as EPC :D ), is a big fan of me and my work, which is very encouraging. Nothing like support and encouragement to make work more worthwhile.
