Another week flies by...
May. 23rd, 2020 07:20 amSeriously - it's been 7 days?!
I finished watching The Stranger by Harlan Coben, who also wrote Safe. In both cases, I was absolutely gripped until the ending, which I found disappointing in both cases. With Safe, at least it made sense in the context of the rest of the story. I disliked it on an emotional level; but I understood it. With The Stranger... They spent 7.5 episodes building up this intricate web of relationships and interconnections between the characters. There were twists and turns, but they all added to an enjoyable experience. But the ending... So many holes in it... Although, ironically, I liked this one at the emotional level! Anyway, I won't be reading his books or watching any more dramatisations of them.
I decided I really didn't need any more Netflix series as my Tivo box has a LOT of stuff on it. I am also watching (and loving!) Batwoman, and a third series of A House Through Time is starting on Tuesday (in Bristol, this time). So, no more Netflix! Then I read a recommendation for The Last Kingdom (in the Financial Times, of all places) and yes, watched an episode... And yes, I'm hooked... But I am only going to watch another episode when I've watched something off the Tivo! Goals are important...
I got a new story up on 70x700, which brings the total up to 8 for this year (I think). Given that it took 4 years to reach 35, I think that's pretty good going! I'm not going to get to 70 in this calendar year (it's back to job applications next week), but by the end of 2021 I may well be in a position to self-publish my collection of 'Flash fiction on a grand-ish scale'.
I did some poking around with MSPlanner this week and have a different presentation of the Portfolio that is a) easier to digest than the previous SharePoint version and b) easier to keep track of than the Excel version. At least, I think so. Hopefully my colleagues will agree!
I was going to have a rant about Captain Tom (sorry, SIR Captain Tom... or should that be Captain Sir Tom...?) but I don't have the enthusiasm for it. Suffice to say, why do we need a man who is over 100 to raise money for the fucking NHS?!
Today is the usual round of shopping, washing and cleaning. And the sun is shining.
