A bed of roses

Things we learned today...

• Roast dinners really don't belong to Sunday lunch time.  Saturday or Sunday tea time is much better
• Even when you heat up a tin of peas for 20 minutes, they can still come out hard
• Assassin's Creed, even when it's the FFXV version, is not for me
• I can write 3k words on a Sunday without breaking a sweat
• Writing about someone who might have been me in a different life can be therapeutic

Karen, the MC for my Nano, is heading for the final crisis.  I don't usually put my characters through experiences that I would not want to face myself, but this Nano is all about pushing myself as a writer - and that means pushing my character to her limits.  She is most definitely unravelling now, and I'm setting things up nicely for the point where she falls apart completely.  It hasn't quite gone the way I expected it to - partly due to a conversation with one of my Beta readers earlier - but I do think it's working.

The cruellest part for Karen is that I'm going to relive the story through Dani and Nima Shahnaz before I draw the whole thing towards (what I still hope will be) a happy ending.

I had a little go at the Assassin's Festival on FFXV and just got annoyed with it.  I want to play mini-games, not dodge Magitek soldiers, especially when dodging them seems to involve running around in circles on rooftops.  The AC games look amazing and I would love the history element of them but, if the FFXV experience is anything to go by, I would not enjoy playing them.

Not sure when I'll get round to Primal again.  Maybe next Sunday?  I really want to keep up the momentum with the writing, although I am hoping to sneak in a bit of word creation during my dinner breaks at work.  In between cancelling my Amazon subscription and setting up one with Netflix, and investigating how to download 'My Shows' onto my new TV6 box...  I'm fairly sure there was something else 'businessy' I wanted to do this week...  It'll come to me...

Anyway, time for sleep, now.  I'll post Chapter 2 of TSS tomorrow.
