A bad day starts with a bad night
Feb. 24th, 2026 09:01 pmA year ago I was enjoying pictures of the kidlings, watching Unforgotten, trying Copilot for writing minutes, and prepping for Sunday. Which reminds me, I need to look at the reading for this Sunday...
I woke up at 2am and realised I wasn't getting back to sleep. It was 4ish when I finally drifted off. Which meant I struggled to get up and was running to catch myself all morning. I was convinced I had a workshop for the apprenticeship at 9.30am, so got myself out of the house before 9am. I thought my bag was a bit light but I put it down to taking salad to work instead of something hot in my food flask.
Get to work, put my bag on my chair... and realise the pocket where my laptop should be is empty. LM says, go back home and work from there. It's now 9.10am and I don't have time to get home for the workshop, so I go round the corner to the Helpdesk people and they lend me a laptop. They always have a stack on hand. Back at my desk I realise I didn't zip up the pocket on my bag with my purse in it! Thankfully, my purse was still in there.
After fighting with the display settings (because 'new' laptop), I'm finally ready for the workshop to start. As an aside, the colleague I usually end up asking for help with the screens offered to help but I was very pleased to be able to say I'd don't it all by myself! So, start the Teams meeting for the workshop and a message pops up - the host will let you in when the meeting starts. 10 minutes later, there's no sign of it starting. I try turning everything off and on again - still nothing. Try the link from Teams rather than Outlook... Still nothing.
Then I look at the actual meeting invite. It starts at 10am. *heavy sigh*
There was one good thing today - the evening safeguarding training session got cancelled, which made my evening much more relaxed than it would have been.
I collected my new coat on the way home. They didn't ask for ID or even the email confirming it had been delivered at the shop. I took my passport with me - one of the things that distracted me from my laptop!
Oh, and my new salad dressing recipe - olive oil, balsamic vinegar, Middle Eastern seasoning mix, Tabasco, and honey - is sooo tasty.
I've just caught up with The Rookie and now I'm heading for bed. Hopefully I'll sleep properly tonight!
