It went like clockwork...

rosa_heartlilyA year ago I was enjoying DAV, getting husband's CGM to play nice, tramping through slush, and looking at Power BI reports.
Today began with some writing. I've got a name for the desert nomad who teams up with Nova. The healer, chief's wife and warrior from Kirana and Jerrick's village are all siblings. At the back of my mind, I wanted them to be from somewhere else to help disguise the fact that the babies were swapped at birth. However, I'm very wary of trying to write different cultures that have obvious RW equivalents (reading the Discworld novels, I do feel a little uncomfortable here and there - and don't get me started on the Calomenes!), which is one reason I don't describe my characters in very great detail. Then I thought that maybe they'd travelled along a line of latitude rather than longitude, so skin tone, for example, could be quite similar. Or maybe they're a different humanoid species? Elvish? I'm also toying with the idea that Nova's people live on an ocean rather than in a desert. This is the time to have these conversations with myself - not when I'm half way through the first draft :D
After breakfast, I went to Morning Prayer at St Margaret's where I found out our Team Vicar is poorly :( Hoping they're better soon.
Then I went to the LFC shop in Williamson Square and picked up a pair of pants for husband in the sale. Now I need a place to keep them for the next 4 months :D
In the office, the online meeting I had in my diary got cancelled. I was really hungry, so I moved my dinner to 12pm rather than 1pm, but then had the munchies all afternoon. In the morning, I dealt with email and prepped for a meeting next week. In the afternoon, I dusted off my ebook copy of the Impact Engine, making some notes and working through the associated worksheet - and doing some actions, too! I've made a small tweak to the PMF, drafted a 4-question version of the request form, and dug out an old project summary/case study doc that includes some 'before and after' metrics to show the value of the project - can we get the current BAs to do that? The only thing I couldn't do today was ask about the Mythical Resource Spreadsheet. I would have talked my LM through it - but my 1:1 has been cancelled. Way to start the new year...
I got home just after 6pm and got our chippy order in - which arrived really quickly. We ate in a civilised manner, had coffee, and then I washed up and was ready for my video call with my friend well before 7.30pm - but they couldn't make it :( Another reschedule. Again, hoping all is well with them.
But it's an ill wind and all that, so I played an hour of GoY and have some new gear. I finished the musician's quest, too. Then I picked up some local landmarks - a painting spot, a shrine, a hot spring and an altar - and I have another couple of altars to find before exploring further. It was nice to just explore without having to fight anyone. Have I mentioned I love the Ainu?
