What the ACTUAL fuck...

After finishing on DW last night, I swung by fb and was absolutely gobsmacked. Apparently, there's a new thing in Christian circles - the Sin of Empathy! I kid you not. Apparently, Bishop Budde is guilty of it. She's a snake and feminism is a cancer. We are truly living in '1984'... (I looked it up and actually the idea that empathy is a sin emerged around 2019 - so it's only new to me :D)

This time last year, I was enjoying buying birthday presents for younger grandson that did not need batteries (this year's did...), and wrestling with ChatGPT (which I've pretty much dropped - but I really should try to make more use of Copilot, I think).

Today, I put the shopping away, did my cleaning jobs, and had a chat with husband (instigated by him) that roamed over gender equality v box-ticking and health issues (his and my parents'). We are much better than we used to be at navigating around each others' views - partly I think we have greater empathy(!) with each other, partly I'm better at acknowledging what he's said before making my points, and partly he's just not quite the same version of him since the memory loss. The last point is... uncomfortable... but I have to say I prefer this version...

And, of course, I played Veilguard. I got a lot of side stuff cleared out, finished some story arcs and got the full support of most of the factions. I have one more companion quest and then it's back to the story! One of my companions has now started a relationship with one of the NPCs. All of their romances are so cute - especially the one that, on paper, I would have expected to be the opposite. I'm very glad I didn't go for any of the romance options because I wouldn't have had all this to enjoy.

I also kept an eye on the solar panels via the app. It was a really sunny day and the panels not only powered the whole house for most of the day but also filled up the battery, which is now providing all our power - although I expect it will run out before the end of the night. We even gave a tiny amount back to the grid! It really gives me a warm fuzzy feeling - no doubt Green Energy is also against the will of the Almighty <_<

The kitties of Secret Cat Forest are enjoying their little playroom upstairs from the library, and I'm enjoying having new furniture to build.

sin of empathy I can't even. The Gospel literally says "love your neighbor as yourself"; doesn't that necessarily include empathy?

Of course, the REALLY stupid thing is that the people accusing Bishop Budde of this 'sin' are doing so because they feel outraged on behalf of Trump... Surely they're showing empathy for him...?

And may I be guilty of this sin every single day!

I could probably make an argument about how it's not empathy, it's sycophancy, but yeah, the whole business is entirely ridiculous. I genuinely do not understand the cultish nature of his following, but I do suspect that after he's gone, this unholy alliance will collapse, because none of the potential heirs have the right draw for it (I bloody well hope and pray.)

I would be proud to be guilty of this sin multiple times a day, to be quite honest.
