A year ago I was reflecting on the Sabbath, making progress with Tunic, and enjoying a good curry.

Today I had planned to go into the office because husband has an appointment on Thursday and I'm off on Friday, so Mon - Wed in the office would be my three days. However, husband's blood pressure has been rising and his breathing has been getting worse because he's still not back on his heart meds, so I wanted to get a GP appointment to discuss getting him back on them. I called at exactly 08:00 and was #12 in the queue! By the time I got through, all the appointments had gone but the receptionist sent me a link to a form to explain what was going on. I got a text later advising us to make an appointment for a blood test. With hospital blood tests, we just rock up at the Royal when we want to but GP blood tests have to be booked. For the clinic we usually go to, there's usually a long lead time (although it was only 10 days today - sometimes it's 3 weeks), but obviously I wanted the earliest possible. I managed to get one for Wednesday at a place not far from the Royal that I'm sure we can get to on foot but I'll get a taxi because we haven't been before.

So that's Wednesday as a WFH day, too. I mentioned to a colleague the other day that I feel bad about not keeping the '3 days in the office' rule but they said nobody would grumble because they know my circumstances. It was good to hear that but it still makes me more scrupulous about not totally taking the piss!

Work-wise, I had a very quiet, do-whatever-you-fancy desk day, which allowed me to get some washing done. Husband slept very late (missing ALL the excitement over the GP, which was for his benefit after all!), but it didn't matter because I was at home. Tomorrow, I'm hoping he's back to his usual routine.

There's a new scheme for making additional contributions to our pensions that I gave some thought to, today. Now, obviously, the more money in the post, the more there is for my retirement - but it's impossible to know what my current pot will be worth in 13 years time. I'm going to see what my monthly 'surplus' is over the next few months and then look at investing that, I think.

And I read a bit more of the Impact Engine book by Laura Barnard. I'm just skimming through at the moment but my plan is to go back and follow the method from the start, and see what all the fuss is about.

I managed to get some COE33 in. After defeating a few of the big uglies on the world map (and donating some skin to the weird Nevron), I got over-confident and almost met my match in a big blue floaty thing in the snowy area, but I did prevail. I popped into some of the side areas where it's just - go in and get the shiny, but I'm still finding a lot areas have red circles at the entrance. At least the world map enemies give a good amount of XP, so hopefully I can level up enough to tackle the companion quests at least before going to The End.

And I rounded the night off with an episode of War Games, with Troughton's Doctor. Hoping for a better night's sleep tonight.
