Yesterday, today; what's the difference?
May. 20th, 2025 09:10 pmYou may have noticed I was absent yesterday. More on that below.
A year and a day ago, I was saying a tearful farewell to Jurgen, taking husband for a walk, playing Zau, enjoying Psych, and having my ego punctured by a Beta reader.
A year ago, I was tired after PCC.
Yesterday, husband fell in the kitchen and we called an ambulance - which arrived in under an hour, which was super speedy. He didn't want an ambulance or to go to hospital - I mean, who does? - but son and I over-ruled him. There was a comment made to the effect that I'm in serious trouble if he isn't able to attend the homecoming next Monday...
Amongst the various symptoms he presents with, a diagnosis of anaemia and pneumonia was arrived at. He had two blood transfusions last night and some antibiotics. I stayed all night in case they moved him from Resus (the full meaning of that only really hit me today) to a ward. He stayed in one place but lots of medical people came to visit. Every time we got drowsy, someone came to poke or prod or ask questions - sometimes all three. I had to abandon the project prioritisation meeting but I asked for it to be recorded. I'll investigate tomorrow whether that means I'll be writing minutes from a recording!
Today, I sent a message to LM and their LM saying basically, 'I'm not going to be working today. Hopefully I will tomorrow.' and didn't wait for a response. Husband was hooked up to a third blood transfusion; they are REALLY worried about his kidneys but their condition can be put down to the anaemia and his long-term conditions, and recent infections. His water tablets have been temporarily suspended.
Whilst he waited for the blood transfusion to finish, I ran into town and picked up some more PJ bottoms and some laundry sheets (well done Home and Bargain - by which you know I'm a true Scouser. A wool or a plazzie would use the proper name for the shop - Home Bargains :D
Just before I left, he was moved into a proper ward. I shall take the laptop down and do some work :)
And now I am very tired.
