How many games in one day?
May. 3rd, 2025 11:00 pmThis time last year I was tidying up stuff at work, finishing Carto, and looking forward to a week off.
Today, I got the living room and kitchen done, then headed out to get my hair done. Just a light trim and a bit of shaping. Then I nipped into town to pick up the new scales and TENS machine.
After dinner, I headed upstairs to do a bit more on The Pedestrian but I got stuck on a level - I thought I was supposed to do a thing that I wasn't quick enough to do and decided I didn't need that much stress and deleted it. Then I checked YT and I had the signs connected up wrong :( So, I might go back to it. But the interesting puzzle game has now decided it wants to be a platformer, so maybe not.
I tried Tin Hearts next, which is a bit like Lemmings - direct the tin soldiers in the right direction so they don't fall off the table. I couldn't keep up with the tutorial! So that one's also gone.
Next I tried A Space for the Unbound, which is an interactive novel set in Indonesia with some interesting twists. One thing is that there are two timelines. The PC, Atma, is friends with a younger girl who has written this fantastic story about a space princess - and he also has a girlfriend who is also a classmate. Then you can jump into people's minds like in Alundra or Chocobo's Mystery Dungeon and help them sort themselves out, which happens in both timelines. And the girlfriend has some abilities, too. Not crazy about the stealth mode, unsurprisingly - hoping that won't happen too often. Oh, and there are cats. Lots and LOTS of cats! Gotta pet them all...
And I took a photo of the Mystic Pillars level I'm on so I can refer to it whenever I have a few minutes to ponder on it. This one is set in Ancient India. I didn't deliberately pick two international games but I'm glad I did. Storytelling is universal and we should all embrace all the stories we can.
I'm not sure what I think of tonight's Doctor Who. There were so many twists, I feel I've got whiplash! The Doctor didn't cry. I'll take the win :D
