It's progress...
Apr. 4th, 2025 11:07 pmThis time last year I was looking forward to a coffee date (which I later described as a play date *ROFL*), enjoying being unbounced, embracing all that FFXVI has to offer, and celebrating LFC being back at the top of the League (when DID the wheels come off...?).
Today, I 'popped' up to Broadgreen for husband's prescription. Really looking forward to it being on his normal meds list - but I got to enjoy some spring weather.
I started with a chat with a Finance colleague who I believe is on a higher grade than me but always seems slightly dense. We had received a project request and I asked them if I should schedule a meeting between them and the requester, as per our process. They replied that they'd already met the requester, so what exactly did I want them to meet them again for? I said it was great that they'd already met the requester and could they give me a summary of the meeting? They then asked for a chat over Teams. That was on my last day in work, so there was a week's delay while I was off and then another whilst I got my head back in the game this week, and we finally got to meet today. When they gave me a verbal summary of the meeting. You could have just emailed me!
But they did suggest putting something in the request form about the requester meeting them prior to submitting the request, which I thought was helpful. I went to the MSForm and Copilot gave me some very helpful suggestions for improving the form, including a cut-off date to prevent late submissions. That is definitely something to make use of in future, not least because LM's LM is allowing someone to MAKE a late submission, which vexes me greatly. Deadlines are not suggestions! They are there to make sure we can make a proper assessment of the requests before taking them to the Big Committee. But what do I know?
Then I had a 1:1 with LM (third time lucky - the last two have been cancelled), which was a good meeting to be fair. My objectives from last quarter are mostly complete, either because I've done the work or because the world has moved sideways and I CAN'T do it for Reasons. And I'm making progress, or nudging other people to make progress, on the rest. One thing I picked up from the Service Catalogue meeting yesterday was the idea of stakeholder profiles, which LM really liked the sound of. When I looked them up, they sounded more like a stakeholder analysis tool - but we have BAs to do that. I want to use them as a sort of knowledge base, so when we need someone on a Project Board with expertise in 'x', we can look at the list and find someone. So, I've drafted something. I also got a couple of jobs delegated to me because LM is so busy at the moment, which gives me an opportunity to step up. Always a Good Thing.
All day I was promising myself that I would a) play Forspoken and b) clean and polish this room. After tea, son played two episodes of Million Dollar Secret, and then I had the washing up to do, so it was 9.30pm when I got upstairs. But I was determined! I got through the boss fight and back to Cipal, and now there are LOTS of things to do, so I just saved where I was. I think a lot of tomorrow will be spent hoovering up All The Things! I also have new abilities to try out.
I decided spraying polish around at 10.30pm would not be a friendly thing to do, so that's been added to tomorrow's list. However, I did do a bit of tidying and sorting, so that is definitely progress.
And now it's definitely time for bed!
