Over the hump!
Apr. 2nd, 2025 09:03 pmA year ago, I was easing back into work with a ton of emails from LM but glad LM wasn't present, editing the Parish Profile, trying to get to sleep earlier, and pondering the Resurrection.
Today has indeed been a 'hump day'. I had a much quieter day (though still with a project board in the middle!), but I think I'm just reacting to the two busy days. Space in my calendar gave me chance to archive some project documents - selecting which to keep is something of an art in itself. There are the obvious - PID, Closure Report, RAPID, Project Board minutes - but there are also the ones that are likely to prove useful in the future, such as the requirements, the solution design, and the 'to be' process diagrams. And then there are the 'that looks interesting' group, which are much harder to pin down. I don't save anything with wider stakeholder names, like lists of workshop attendees or test runs of groups of students, because they'd be a GDPR nightmare. Having made my selection, I then give the project team three months to save anything they want, and then nuke the Teams site. The saved docs are kept for five years after the system has been decommissioned, so they tend to hang around for a while! I did delete a set recently for a system that was successfully implemented but never used - sooo many lessons learned, there!
I also managed to watch the next episode of Skadi's LP of Cyberpunk 2077, where she used someone else's money to pay for a piece of fancy tech :D
A late tea and some washing meant I didn't get time for Forspoken but there are still five weeks until my birthday. I don't think I really had the energy, anyway. I'm in a new city that will require me to be on my toes when I'm exploring it, so Frey gets to enjoy the refuge for another day.
I've just booked a health check with the GP for 9am tomorrow. I'll definitely need to hustle in the morning!
This morning, I watched a couple of videos by Weird History about life in Ancient Rome, including one about fashion. Those purple togas required a LOT of dead snails! It got me thinking about the roles of men and women in the various cultures my heroes will be visiting. Nova's people are matriarchal and matrilineal - husbands move to their wives' clan, bringing a dowry of livestock, which they take back if the marriage breaks down, and a personal present of coffee cups for their wives, which leads to each clan having several mismatched sets. It's a sign of honour if the clan's Matriarch ensures each guest has a full matching set!
Liverpool have just taken the lead against Everton. Let's hope it stays like that...
