Well, that was a thing
Feb. 13th, 2025 09:37 pmA year ago it was Pancake Day! This year, it's not until March.
Today a colleague lost several tabs from a OneNote. I don't think it was anything they did - although it happened when they were trying to copy the link - because EVERYTHING was gone, even previous versions of the pages. And it took the teccy people most of the day to recover anything but they did get most of it, just not the work they'd done today. So, not perfect but better than nothing.
I spent quite a lot of today working on terms of reference for various project boards. I love a well-crafted quoracy statement above all - the balance between good governance and not being unable to make decisions due to one specific person's absence. My favourite thing is still a good RAPID, but ToRs are a close second. I'm a PMO nerd, and proud of it!
I've just watched the second episode of Unforgotten. The threads are starting to emerge, to unravel - we're a looong ways off them getting tied up, though.
I'm thinking of using lots of archetypes for my Nova novel. The sweetheart, Nova, and the woman from our world are the triple goddess, maiden, mother and crone. The king, his bff/bodyguard and two other male characters (I'm thinking one should be a child) are the king, the warrior, the magician and the lover. Together, they form a group of seven - one of those 'special' numbers. One difficulty I have is where to start - after they've joined up? Or follow each group/individual as if they have nothing to do with each other at first? The latter is a common tactic in Terry Pratchett novels (and in Unforgotten!) - you know they're going to join up, you just don't know how. Or introduce them as a group but have flashbacks? Or give each of them a Companion Quest a la Veilguard? The King (the True King but not a true king at the start) has the biggest journey to go on. I want him to be worthy of the sweetheart by the end - but will she still want him? That's not something I'd thought of before...
To dig into the archetype angle, I'm watching YT videos and re-re-re-reading Who Am I? which has loads of different personality typings and is fun to read for that reason alone.
And that was today. Grandbabies visit tomorrow <3
