Broken but whole...
Feb. 9th, 2025 09:36 pm A year ago I was reflecting on the brokenness of the CoE. In some ways, things have moved on; in others, we're in the same place.
I was glad I went to church today. I got to talk to two people who are also feeling deeply frustrated about the current situation at St B's, and are just as hurt that it's happened on OUR patch. We talked about the hurt of our friend, our own hurts - and the lack of support for clergy when dealing with personnel issues. We also reflected on the Church's difficulty with following due process, which has, for example, led to the end of one Bishop's career and probably the end of another's. Yes, we know, we want to be loving and kind to EVERYONE - but not following due process isn't KIND and it certainly isn't loving.
That conversation means some of the preamble for a conversation I'm having with one of those people tomorrow is taken care of and we can get to business a little quicker.
I made progress with GoW:R. It looks absolutely stunning - the water is particularly pretty. I spent some time doing side quests today because that's always fun and got some very snazzy armour out of it. We were helping Memir right some of his own wrongs, which felt satisfying. Next time I play (might not happen until the weekend, now), I'll continue with the story.
And I think the right person left DoI tonight. There were some 9's scored and a headbanger from a male celebrity. But I really want to lock Christopher Dean and Stephen Mulhern in a dark cupboard until the series is over because they are both SO annoying.
And that was today.
