I woke this morning to a white world. Snow looks sooo pretty through the window...
This time last year, I was enjoying Sea of Stars a LOT, enjoying walking down hill with husband, enjoying YG's cuteness (he's still cute, of course, but in a toddler way rather than a baby way), not enjoying prepping for Sunday, and REALLY not enjoying wrestling with CS Lewis' view of humanity's sinfulness.
Today, I was due to lead Morning Prayer at St B's but the Vicar was supposed to speak. I donned my Chelsea boot wellies, put up my umbrella, and set off through the slush. Because I was able to get to church, I was completely oblivious to what the snow might mean for other people and, therefore, didn't think to check Whatsapp. So, when I arrived, I discovered that the Vicar was stuck at home, and our sister church wasn't open at all. Since CoE regulations state that there has to be Holy Communion somewhere in the Parish, we had to pivot to doing that - but nobody present had the necessary 'holy hands'! But the new Rector was supposed to be on their way - and duly arrived to save the day.
However, they're visually impaired and didn't have the service sheet on their funky Braille gizmo. So, I topped and tailed the printed liturgy, and they did a standard CoE Eucharistic Prayer (it's amazing how the words just come back to you even after nearly 20 years of not saying them regularly...). And the Curate did the creative activity they'd planned on doing with the kids down at St M's! It was all totally seamless :D
At the end of the service we had a 'blessing of the chalk' - totally new to me, but apparently originating in medieval Europe. We all got to bring a piece of chalk home with a prayer and were invited to write on our own doors to bless the house for the year to come. So, I did that.
Liverpool managed a draw against United. Not ideal, but we're still 6 points ahead.
I rounded off my hols with making it to just under 40 hours of DAV. I have a shed load of side quests and one story quest 'on the books' at the moment. Not sure when I'll get back to it - there's football on Wednesday night, so that's a possibility - but there's always the weekend. And I watched another couple of episodes of The Ice Warriors.
And that was my Twelfth Night/Day 16 of my hols. Back to work tomorrow, but it's a WFH day AND pretty much a desk day, so I'll be easing back in gently.
