That was interesting...
Dec. 19th, 2024 09:57 pmI made it to the work Christmas meal, mostly because I'd already paid for it. Not sure I got my money's worth, though, especially as it didn't include dessert. We went to Fazenda, which is a Brazilian Steakhouse. You pay a flat fee and get a constant supply of meat brought to your table, with chips (they were REALLY good), and as much salad as you can eat. I did eat quite a lot, but I stopped before the meat did. Our boss, who is currently off sick, paid for us to get a free drink when we arrived. We got an email from our temporary boss telling us not to go mad and order cocktails. It wouldn't have occurred to me to order a cocktail until they mentioned it! Anyway, I got a house red, which is what I would have bought for myself.
A former colleague joined us. Weirdly, I met one of their new colleagues at church on Sunday! Liverpool is a village...
The garden is nearly there... It feels like some projects I've been involved with. It's 90% done, there are just a few tweaks... They've promised to finish up before the family arrive on Tuesday. I've done some pricing of really large plant pots and they're pretty expensive, especially at the size we need. We may need to get something cheap and cheerful to start with and replace them over time. I was thinking of putting ornamental trees in them, something to give interest all year round - but I'm not sure how they'd do in the winds we get these days. But those really big pots would be more stable...
I also had a little poke around in Power BI and I understand how my Power BI colleague built that thing. I feel very proud of myself :D Now I want to try to replicate it.
And barring the shopping that's turning up on Saturday for our family feast on Tuesday, and some cleaning, I am DONE for Christmas. I am very pleased about that.
