I needed this week
Sep. 29th, 2023 08:26 pmI used up about 2/3 of last year's leave during the last quarter of last calendar year due to husband's health issues. As soon as my leave allocation for this year kicked in, I booked this week off. I don't often take a whole week but boy did I need this!
Saturday we went up to the hospital to visit bil :(
Sunday was our Harvest festival but at St Michael's, which meant a later start. And, therefore, a late return.
Monday I tried to pick up a prescription that I'd ordered using the new online system the Monday before. Guess what? Didn't come through *sigh* In 2023, I am reduced to using pen and paper in order to get my husband his medication.
Tuesday, husband had a blood test and then we went up to our daughter's to spend the afternoon with the baby grandson - who is now 8 months and crawling! Husband sat in a chair that the dog considers as hers, so she was pretty much glued to him :D Baby is a joy, always.
Wednesday we went up to the hospital again to see bil. Last time we saw the GP he asked husband to get an ECG done at the hospital, so we went to get it done. Turns out these things are time-bound and we'd gone over the time limit and needed to ask the GP for another referral. That afternoon, the GP rang about the blood test - husband isn't drinking enough water. We need to get him to drink more and get a follow up blood test. While I had him on the phone, I asked him for the referral :)
Thursday, I got my hair cut. It's a bit shorter than I really wanted but it'll always grow. Then I picked up the prescription I put in on Monday. On paper...
Today, we had the follow up blood test. I'm trying to get him to drink more water, because we really don't want to add kidney failure to the list.
In between, I've done some cleaning and some gaming and ticked some films off my Tivo box. It feels like a lot longer than 7 days since I was last in work. This is a Very Good Thing.
It's been a good week.
