Frustrations with medical people
Dec. 3rd, 2022 06:52 pmWhat I didn't say last Saturday was that we brought the husband home on the Friday. They updated his med list but somehow missed the sharps for administering the insulin *facepalm* I had a right runaround getting it sorted yesterday - helped by the pharmacist, so that was something.
I chased up the referral to the memory clinic with the GP, who told me there are still some potential physical causes for the memory loss so the clinic might reject the referral. We thought we'd eliminated all the possible physical causes! But the hospital didn't make it clear - or that a physical cause could last 6 months!!! And they let him home with a potential water infection and no antibiotics...
We are getting used to the impact of his blood sugar level. Tonight, he was really distressed and his numbers were high. A shot of insulin and a good meal and his mood improved. He's been going to bed earlier than usual and sleeping around 12 hours. Given that for the past several years he's had real trouble sleeping, this is one good side effect!
I'll be working again on Monday and am going to request that I work from home for at least the rest of this year. I don't think he's in any real danger - unless he tried to cook something and forgot about it. But he gets really distressed if I don't appear within 5 seconds and I don't want to cause him more stress than necessary. And, by inference, me!
I'm holding up with the help of FFX and ST:TNG :D
