...the husband and I have come down with Covid. The son is being a real star, running around after us, even picking up husband's prescription - and, in the process, discovering a way to get 3 months for £30 rather than £50+ per time! Although we did get a repeat of everything, this time - I expect we'll just be topping up a subset in future.
We think we picked it up last Saturday in town. We were in and out of shops and, because I was pushing the chair, I was less stringent with myself about my mask. I do feel cheated, though. I've done all the hand sanitising, all the mask wearing, got all the jabs, stayed away from people... I am NOT impressed. And after running around like a headless chicken for the previous couple of weeks, my resistance was probably particularly low.
It doesn't seem to be VERY serious. I'm coughing up green gunk like you wouldn't believe, although it's getting less green and less gunky (apologies if you're eating whilst reading this...). The husband, however, just seems to have all his existing symptoms but a little worse. I also think his water tablets aren't helping (just looked them up on the NHS website), so I'll suggest dropping them for a couple of days.
I swapped my annual leave on Thur & Fri for sick leave and am hopeful that I'll be up to work on Monday. I was also supposed to be back in the office on Tuesday... We shall have to see how I get on. I'm certainly not going to rush back. I'm OK up to Tuesday but after that I'll need a doctor's note. I'm just sooo unused to being ill...
After not really feeling either hungry or like eating for a couple of days, yesterday evening I was ravenous and really fancied a curry. Husband didn't, so we went for a new Chinese. By the time it arrived, after having real hunger pains (how often do we get those in our pampered existence?), I had just tipped over into the 'past hunger' zone :( And it was, perhaps, the least appetising Chinese curry I've ever seen. I ate it because I had BEEN hungry and the husband is suffering more than I am, so needs me to have SOME energy but I didn't enjoy it at all. His sweet & sour chicken balls, however, looked REALLY tasty!
I hate it when you're really looking forward to something and it doesn't meet your expectations.
OK - time to climb out of bed. It's a beautiful day outside but I don't have the energy for a walk ;(
Still, life could be worse - I could have had Liz Truss' week ;D
