It was just... nice... you know?
Mar. 12th, 2022 08:41 amSo, Monday night was officially a 'church leadership team meeting', which actually involved going to the Rector's house for dinner and just having a friendly chat. It was just... nice... you know? To be 'me' - not 'mum' or 'wife' or 'worker'... There were complaints about it being a 'school night', so we're going to try for Fridays in future :D
And I've made the decision to wind up 'A Taste of God' at Easter. It was supposed to be lay led but for the six weeks of Lent, three sessions are being led by the clergy, I'm doing two and our one remaining active and regular lay person is doing the other. We are getting people who are working in the garden, which is good - but they're joining because they're there already, not because they've come for ToG. We're struggling with the 'hybrid' offering because only one person's tech is consistently able to work - and that person is not consistently there, which makes the service patchy to say the least. Ironically, our 'golden age' was at the height of the pandemic when we were only offering on-line sessions!
There is one person who relies on the hybrid offering, who complains that they are being excluded. They complain, rightly, that the hybrid offering shouldn't rely on one person - but that's where we are. It's not that we can't be arsed if that person isn't available - we have tried numerous times to offer it when they aren't there but IT DOESN'T FUCKING WORK!!! But the other person continues to talk about being 'excluded' very loudly to anyone who'll listen.
I know 'exclusion', like bullying and abuse in general, is in the eye of the beholder - and the EFFECT is one of exclusion, even if that isn't our intention - but its really, REALLY tiresome and makes me think the decision to close it down is the right one so I just don't have to deal with this particular shit.
In work news, however, things are looking up! I've managed to get Azure DevOps up and running - by asking the same people to do the same things I THOUGHT I'd already asked them to do AGES ago... But the wind was in the right direction, or I was scratching my nose instead of rubbing my eye... Or something... Whatever, it is now there and ready to use.
There's also a very small, very contained project that MIGHT provide me with an opportunity to do some PM'ing... I want to look at it and do some thinking about how I would approach it before asking if I can have a go...
And the clocks change in the US this weekend, which means an extra hour with my chat buddy <3
