A quiet week
May. 11th, 2019 07:46 amMy week off work has been quiet and relaxed, which was just what I wanted. Back to work on Monday, although I've booked the afternoon off just in case LFC win the league tomorrow. If they don't, I'll cancel it. Half-days are just annoying!
The husband and I managed to dodge the rain on Tuesday long enough to take a trip along Hope St and have a coffee at the Metropolitan Cathedral café. I pushed him in his new wheelchair and that worked really well. I also managed to avoid any aches and pains the next day (thank you, Qi Gong!). Now we just have to hope that LFC win at least one of the two trophies available so that we can take him out for one or both of the planned homecomings - that was the point of buying it, after all!
My birthday was a lovely day of gaming and relaxing. Really nothing much to report. I've got some new plants and games and... What more do you really need from life at 48? The husband is already wanting to 'do something' for my 50th and I'm seriously considering asking the family to pay for a Lush spa treatment.
I saw the latest trailer for the FF7 remake last night and - OMG!!! It is gorgeous. I also watched an analysis video from Final Fantasy Union, who are also very excited. They pointed out how closely the scenes in the trailer followed the same points in the original. I am still interested in seeing how they handle things like Honey Bee Inn and Don Corneo, though. Homo- and transphobic humour just won't cut it, these days.
I finished DAI. It's a long time since I fell face first into a game in the way I did with this. Two things I really disliked about it - firstly, making choices that affected everyone else's life (but that's RPGs, I suppose) and secondly, no 'escape from dungeon' option when you got to the end of some immeasurable warren. Otherwise, it gripped me and carried me along on an enormous wave of quests and missions and resource gathering. The twists all took me by surprise because I knew next to nothing about it beforehand. Definitely on my 'recommend' list.
*small spoiler at the end of the next paragraph*
I'm currently playing The Descent, the first DLC, and have reached the final boss, which has managed to wipe out my party. I suspect I need to learn how to use the battle system a bit more effectively than I did with the main game. This irritates me a bit - I play on 'casual' for a reason! - but it might make the combat a bit more interesting, I suppose. If all else fails, I'll explore all the new areas and watch someone else beat the boss. Then move on to the next. I am looking forward to Trespasser, though - oh, Solas, who art thou?!
