It is always momentarily disconcerting to see "red" as the (relatively) progressive/liberal color, lol (in the US the Dems are blue.)
The problem is that reducing competition also reduces certain peoples' ludicrous incomes, and thus, verboten. sigh. I agree with you though. Making resource distribution more equitable is a great start to reducing conflict. It won't fix a lot of the other reasons people fight, but it would help.
