Whilst I LOVED FFXVI in so many ways, there were also many ways it fell short. One is the lack of a proper party. The other is that there's NOTHING to do outside the story quests. I suppose with NG+ most of the side quests become optional, but that's not what I mean. I expect FF games to have hidden dungeons, collectables giving access to secret lore, mini-games - SOMETHING.
