That was better...

Tried Skyrim in TP and felt absolutely fine. Of course, I did spend most of the time reading 3 volumes of 'The Real Berenziah' in the wrong order... Now THAT would make a great story for a game. I'm still waiting to 'get' Skyrim. Mostly I'm getting the same feeling I did with Baldur's Gate I & II - that these are stages video games had to go through so I can play DA: Veilsguard... I appreciate the journey but it really doesn't feel like one I need to take for myself. At least so far. I'm still in Whiterun and I realise I have barely begun the game. I also know that once I can use the 'shout' thingy, I can completely ignore the main story. There are certainly enough sidequests already building up and the map is, of course, huge. We shall see.
I'm going to focus on finishing ISS for now, I think.
Tomorrow I begin plotting for this year's Nano. Working title 'Harding's Choice', maybe...? As in 'Hobson's Choice' rather than 'Sophie's Choice'. I'm particularly anxious that Patel feels like a real person and not just a walking PC vehicle. She's a Muslim woman with Indian Sub-continent heritage who wears rainbow socks and should probably have a sunflower lanyard. Is that too many boxes for one person to live up to? :D Harding is, on the one hand, a stereotypical 'rough exterior hides soft heart' cop who's been round the block too many times but still believes in people - he also makes a great mentor for younger cops like Patel because he has a strong moral compass. Is it too much to make him a recovering alcoholic, too? Is that just TOO cliché?
Started series 2 of Umbrella Academy. I've said it before but the casting of Aidan Gallagher is so important. Get that wrong and the whole thing falls apart. I mean, I love the whole cast, including the secondary characters but everything hinges on Five. Getting to play a 68yo in a 13yo's body is a really tall order, but he absolutely pulls it off.
And that was today. I'm trying to work out a way to meet granddaughter earlier...
