I know it's Reasonable O'clock where you are, but...
I've been following PMO Strategies for a number of years now, and listen to all the podcasts. Today, they ran a session called 'health assessment for your PMO', which I was able to join for the first half-hour but because the leader, Laura Bernard, is in the US, it started at 5pm here and no way was I hanging around until 6.30pm. Luckily it's recorded. I completely get that I'm being unreasonable in wanting it at, say, 2pm my time :D
Tonight's reading was 1 Corinthians 13 - Paul's hymn to love. Just like 'love your neighbour as yourself' it all sounds so easy. But love, REAL love, is hard work, sometimes. Loving my baby grandson is so easy. Loving someone like Donald Trump is... challenging... And yet, this is what we're called to do.
Yesterday, I saw an advert for the Planetary Society featuring a lot of Star Trek folk. I love the premise of ST, and I believe Roddenberry's vision is possible. Whether or not there are aliens out there is beside the point - as humans we CAN come together to work for the good of all. People of faith, people of different faiths, people without faith - but all with the belief that we are stronger together.
On the other hand, my chat buddy sent me some text from an article they were reading about Marc Andreessen, who appears to want carte blanche to develop new technologies to increase his bank balance rather than enrich human life. How do we get past people like that?! I suppose we can't, at the macro level. But at the micro level, we can foster our relationships, strengthen our communities, leave our little patch of the world better than we found it. Maybe...?
Loving my little bit of the world, doing what is mine to do, trusting that other people have the other stuff. This is enough.
